A fugitive driver stole a pickup truck and crashed into the garage of a Garden Grove home
Garden Grove. A driver stole a blue pickup truck and crashed into a Garden Grove home after stealing it on Wednesday, September 28, 2016.
Police are searching for the person responsible for the traffic accident after crashing a pickup truck into a Garden Grove home after stealing a van that was parked in another home.
Police officers responded to an emergency call reporting a crash that occurred near the 5300 block of Stanford Avenue in Garden Grove, where a truck had crashed into a home around 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, according to Garden Grove police. The vehicle crashed into the home of the Rivera family, who woke up loudly when the truck smashed their garage.
Garden Grove police told reporters the blue pickup truck was stolen from a home near the crash site.
The owner of the truck who was on his way to work started the car, but realized he left something inside his house, so he went to get it inside and left his car running along the sidewalk in front of his house.
When he got out, he saw someone driving his truck in the distance, so he tried to use his wife’s vehicle to try to follow the driver.
The garage of Rivera’s house was badly damaged and the only thing that supports it is a wooden pole. Building inspectors also had to turn off the water because the plumbing system was ruined.
The Rivera family told reporters they are relieved there were no injuries, despite all the damage.
Witnesses report that the truck driver jumped over the fence and fled before officers arrived on the scene. Police are still trying to identify and locate the driver responsible for the accident, so the case is ongoing.
